This award recognizes an American Shetland Pony Club, Inc., member who has made a significant contribution to the Club by the unselfish promotion of the Shetland Pony and Miniature Horse.
How the process works:
A selection committee consisting of three members of the Board of Directors shall solicit nominations from the membership. This can be done through the "Official Pages" in the Journal and/or through Area Directors. Suggested deadline is July 31st.
The committee is responsible for selecting the recipient(s) and may elect to honor one or more individuals in a given year.
Individual(s) selected shall be honored with a plaque at the banquet held during the National Convention. The name(s) of said recipient(s) shall not be announced until the actual presentation.
To provide a perpetual source of funding, it is suggested that the Area hosting the convention offer at auction an item specifically designated for said purpose. The sale price of the item shall be added to an interest bearing T.R. Huston Service award account managed through the National home office - or the award may be funded by the National Office.
A reminder of the deadline for nominations may be made in the May/June issue of The Journal.
Nominations should be sent to the National Office and it will be forwarded to the selection committee members.
