Royalty

The ASPC/AMHR/ASPR Registry Royalty Program was developed to provide an opportunity for a young person to serve for one year as an official registry representative. The Registry Queen or Ambassador will represent the organization as a whole, a Princess or Jr. Ambassador represent the registry at the show they were selected to serve. The Queen and Ambassador will act as a goodwill ambassador, enhancing public relations for the ASPC/AMHR/ASPR and breed promotion for Moderns, Classics, Miniatures and Show Ponies. The main duty of show Princess or Jr. Ambassador is ribbon/award presenter. The Royalty Program is administered by the Royalty Committee.

ASPC/AMHR/ASPR Queen or Ambassador

Qualifications:
The ASPC/AMHR/ASPR Registry Queen or Ambassador may only serve one year and Must:
  • Be a member in good standing at least 17 years old and may not exceed 23 years old before December 1st of the application year. Must not have been married nor had children.
  • Must exhibit strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Must exhibit a genuine interest in the ASPC/AMHR/ASPR industry
  • Must be willing to travel to out-of-state functions.
  • Must submit a completed application per the below specifications.

Application Process:
Candidates must postmark their royalty portfolio to the coordinator no later than May 1st. Portfolio to include:

  • A cover page, table of contents, completed application form.
  • A list of accomplishments, awards and activities (School, Extracurricular and Community Activities)
  • One page essay on "What I will accomplish as the ASCP/AMHR/ASPR Queen or Ambassador".
  • An essay describing your involvement with all registry breeds (not exceeding 500 words)
  • Four letters of recommendations -( cannot be a relative)
    • Two letters from adults over 18 yrs. old within the equine industry (trainer, steward, judge or member of the Board of Directors)
    • One letter from a teacher, professor or administrator from your school
    • One letter from community representative (church, 4-H, charity, etc)
  • Attach a collage of recent photos of the candidate with equine or other animals as well as school or community activities (show the true you and interests).

    Candidates will be asked to participate in a phone and/or face to face interview and supply additional information upon request.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Attend 2 National Conventions - Coronation takes place during the annual banquet and royalty help hand out Hall of Fame plaques.
  • Attend own Area National Show, ASPC Congress and AMHR Nationals - assisting with youth activities, presenting awards in the ring, introductions to members, show staff & officials, and dignitaries.
  • At least 3 other appearances at events representing the registry
  • Promotion and Communication for the organization 
  • Lady-like and Gentlemen-like Manner- governed by the Registry Queen or Ambassador code of conduct and dress.
  • Journal Columns - Provide a minimum of three columns to the official publication of the ASPC/AMHR/ASPR, The Journal. Feb/Mar - brief introduction, Aug/Sept - update on activities, Dec/Jan - review of reign, experiences and farewell message.

Candidates will receive, in addition to a professional crown or belt buckle and sash, monetary amounts from the ASPC/AMHR Royalty budget for expenses and travel allowance. A $750 gift card upon completion of all responsibilities as well.

The Royalty Committee reserves the right to immediately remove Royalty from their designated reign. The member of Royalty will be disqualified from any future privileges and compensation. The member is also required to repay all monetary amounts in full to the organization and return all crowns/belt buckles and sashes. Failure to complete any required activity may result in the same action.

Top three contestants or winner will be notified between August 10th - 15th. All non-winners applications will receive written notification & feedback by August 30th.

ASPC/AMHR/ASPR Princess or Jr. Ambassador

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must be at least 10 yrs old and may not exceed 16 yrs. old before Dec. 1st of the application year. 
  • All contestants must have never married nor have children
  • Royalty applicants may not be in a current relationship with any other applicant for the same show. Seated royalty may not be in a dating relationship with any other current seated royalty prior to the completion of responsibilities.
  • Must submit a completed application (See Below)
  • Cannot serve at the same show more than once or at multiple shows during the same year.

Application Process:
Candidates must postmark their royalty portfolio to the coordinator no later than April 1st. Portfolios include:

  • A cover page, table of contents and completed application form
  • A list of accomplishments, awards and activities (School, extracurricular, church and community activities)
  • An essay describing why you wish to serve as ASPC/AMHR/ASPR Registry Princess or Jr. Ambassador (not exceeding 500 words)
  • An essay describing your involvement with Shetland Ponies and/or Miniature Horses (not exceeding 500 words)
  • Two letters of recommendation - adult over 18 yrs. old within the equine industry and an adult not related to the equine industry.
  • Attach a collage of recent photos of the candidate with equine or other animals as well as school or community activities (show the true you and interests).

Responsibilities:

  • Ribbon/Award Presenter - must be in the ring presenting awards each day of the show with the exception of youth sessions that you are exhibiting. Please Note: It is long hours and hard work.
  • Promotion and Communication - knowledgeable about the Registry and all the breeds represented.
  • Lady-like or Gentlemen-Like Manner - remember that at all times they are a role model for other youth in the industry

Princess or Jr. Ambassadors will receive a professional crown or belt buckle and sash and be compensated for the required work at a show contingent on the ASPC/AMHR/ASPR Royalty budget.

The Royalty committee reserves the right to immediately remove royalty from their designated reign.

Winners will be notified between May 20th - 25th. All non-winning applications will receive written notification & feedback by May 30th.
